SMOLENSK, Russia – Five Jews of Smolensk joined the covenant of Avraham Avinu this past Tuesday. The story started during a birthday party honoring the Chabad Emissary in Smolensk, Levi Yitzchak Mondshine, who told the participants how important it was for every Jew to undergo a circumcision.

His words had a very strong effect, convincing five young Jews to join the covenant with G-d. Dr. Shaya Shafit, a Mohel from Moscow, arrived to Smolensk in order to carry out the circumcision.

The same night, Rabbi Mondshine expressed his heartfelt congratulations to the young men.
