Brit Yosef Yitzchak performed its 27,000th Bris this past Sunday. Daniel Benjamin, a 29 year-old realtor from Bradenton, FL finally celebrated his Brit Milah. Born to a Jewish mother and a non-Jewish father, Daniel was raised in a secular environment and never received a Bris at birth.

Eighteen months ago, Daniel started learning more about Judaism. Although the idea of having a Bris built slowly, he knew it was “unavoidable.” Four months ago, Daniel began searching for a mohel but came up empty. Last week he decided to try again. One thing led to another and he was finally referred to Rabbi Zalman Gansburg, director of the United States Branch of Brit Yosef Yitzchak.

In a surprising twist, Daniel’s brother attending the Bris decided he too wanted a Brit Milah. As Daniel was getting circumcised, when all the gates of heaven were open, he prayed that his brother would have a Bris as well. After Daniel’s procedure, his prayers were answered. His brother also received a Bris by the same mohel the same day.

Brit Yosef Yitzchak provided all services free of charge, from the surgeon to the mohel to the celebratory meal that followed. Brit Yosef Yitzchak is an international non-profit organization that provides free Brit Milah to any Jew anywhere in the world.

In a surprising twist Daniel had some of his family members attend the joyous occasion and at the last minute, one of them decided he too wanted a Bris. According to Daniel, as he was getting circumcised, when all the gates of heaven were open, he prayed for this person to want to have his Brit done as well. Brit Yosef Yitzchak took care of everything for both men, from the doctor to the mohel, even including the celebratory meal that followed.
