General Overview

There is a famous Chassidic story of Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Lubavitch, who once found his young grandson, Sholom Dov Ber, awash in tears. When he asked the boy why he was crying, the tearful child responded that his teacher had taught the verse, “And G-d revealed himself to Abraham.”

“Why,” asked Sholom Dov Ber, “does G-d not show himself to me?”

Answered Rabbi Menachem Mendel, “When a righteous person realizes at the age of 99 that he must circumcise himself, that he must continue to perfect himself, he is worthy of G-d’s revelation.”

At the age of 99, our forefather Abraham was commanded to circumcise himself, indicating that every Jew, no matter what his age, is obligated in the Mitzvah of Brit Milah. If a Jewish male did not have a Brit at eight days old, he can still fulfill the Mitzvah and complete his Jewish identity later on in life.

Today, it is easier than ever to receive a proper circumcision that is safe and halachically correct. Brit Yosef Yitzchak has a superbly trained staff of surgeon Mohalim who are trained to perform adult circumcisions. Local anesthesia is used, and the Brit is done in an operating room under the supervision of doctors and male nurses. Since it was founded in 1989, Brit Yosef Yitzchak has arranged over 29,000 adult circumcisions around the world. Prospective recipients can feel secure in our sixteen years of experience and expertise.

If the recipient never had a Bar Mitzvah, Brit Yosef Yitzchak provides him with a new pair of Tefillin, as well as other religious items. The joyous occasion culminates with the traditional festive meal.
